andy's dad came up for the weekend and helped babysit rowe while andy and i went to santa fe for the ranch's end of season party. it was such a treat to be away and to know that rowe was being loved at home. before we left, rowe kept patting andy saying, "daddy," then he would move over to dandaddy and pat some and say, "daddy." he's right - they both are. well, here is one "daddy" with little miss. she was a sucker for her dandaddy, too.
we've been trying to work on rowe in regards to eating well. he's a fruit junkie, so that's not the problem. it is getting him to eat anything other than fruit. well, the other night we had grilled chicken and peas and potatoes and something else, i forgot, but there wasn't much eating going on at the ole high chair. so, andy told the bub, "this is it, no snacks, you stinker, you had better start eating if you are hungry." that was paraphrased - but something to that extent. anyway, still no eating. so, after rowe's bath the house became very quiet, trouble quiet. this is what i found. my naked fruit junkie, hitting another bowl of strawberries that was accidentally left on the counter.
since we are having to really watch rowe with his "poking" tendency, i thought he might like a free hand holding with all of the "no poking" going on. he seemed to enjoy it. he even felt a kiss was in order.
snow on lagarita this morning, a couple days later than last year. by the time i got around to taking the picture this afternoon most of the snow had already burned off.
rowe's interest in chapin has defintely picked up in the last couple of days. he wants to touch her ears, her eyes, her hair, her toes. i think this hat has helped her cool factor. rowe is big into animal noises right now and this hat inspires him for all kinds of noises, of course beginning with sheep. p.s. don't worry - the blanket is not as close to her face as it looks.
the men were pretty busy this saturday. andy was building his duck blinds, in the living room as you can see, and rowe was reorganizing my cabinets. chapin & i were in charge of supervising. i think she was a little bored :-)
since chapin is a bit jaundiced, we've been trying to get her some sun. problem is our fall weather has already moved in. so we've been letting her face get some sun, but her body is pretty covered.
i've always liked the idea of a family name, continuing that name through the same veins in a way. well, we started with ole rowe. his middle name is for andy's grandfather's last name, galloway. we've kept it going here with little girl's name. chapin is my grandmother's maiden name. since we are a bit far from family, this way they can carry family around, right in their names.
my mom asked andy to take a picture of her with both grandbabies and this is what unfolded. here is mom luring rowe up on her lap, rowe sitting mildly still, rowe seeing chapin's little lamb hat, trying to take off chapin's little lamb hat, then saying, 'all done.' so much for the photo op.
