we took chapin with us to sante fe and she was such a champ. i think she liked the fancy digs - leather chair included.
andy's dad came up for the weekend and helped babysit rowe while andy and i went to santa fe for the ranch's end of season party. it was such a treat to be away and to know that rowe was being loved at home. before we left, rowe kept patting andy saying, "daddy," then he would move over to dandaddy and pat some and say, "daddy." he's right - they both are. well, here is one "daddy" with little miss. she was a sucker for her dandaddy, too.
i know the majority of babies have blue eyes at the beginning - but maybe they'll stick.
we've been trying to work on rowe in regards to eating well. he's a fruit junkie, so that's not the problem. it is getting him to eat anything other than fruit. well, the other night we had grilled chicken and peas and potatoes and something else, i forgot, but there wasn't much eating going on at the ole high chair. so, andy told the bub, "this is it, no snacks, you stinker, you had better start eating if you are hungry." that was paraphrased - but something to that extent. anyway, still no eating. so, after rowe's bath the house became very quiet, trouble quiet. this is what i found. my naked fruit junkie, hitting another bowl of strawberries that was accidentally left on the counter.
snow on lagarita this morning, a couple days later than last year. by the time i got around to taking the picture this afternoon most of the snow had already burned off.
the season is almost over. they have already closed down one of the buildings, thus rowe has a new playground, the front porch of amethyst.
one guess on what they're watching :-)
rowe's interest in chapin has defintely picked up in the last couple of days. he wants to touch her ears, her eyes, her hair, her toes. i think this hat has helped her cool factor. rowe is big into animal noises right now and this hat inspires him for all kinds of noises, of course beginning with sheep.
p.s. don't worry - the blanket is not as close to her face as it looks.
this is rowe's 'i am watching lion king, please don't disturb me,' face.
this is a favorite - the "ca-bine." notice the shine. aka slobber.
mr. big shot loves to put his shoes on all by himself, just needs a little help with figuring out the right and the left.
well, fall lasted about two weeks and now winter is here. it is supposed to snow tonight. chapin is ready.
rowe's two loves - wheels & pacis. the only thing missing is a lion.
head full of hair
it was freezing this morning so rowe had some time to check out his old toy box. found an old pac and some sunglasses. sported them all morning.

just wanted to prove that she does have eyes under those lids.
still a litte yella' :-)
the dog trainer hard at work
since chapin is a bit jaundiced, we've been trying to get her some sun. problem is our fall weather has already moved in. so we've been letting her face get some sun, but her body is pretty covered.

fall is here
i've always liked the idea of a family name, continuing that name through the same veins in a way. well, we started with ole rowe. his middle name is for andy's grandfather's last name, galloway. we've kept it going here with little girl's name. chapin is my grandmother's maiden name. since we are a bit far from family, this way they can carry family around, right in their names.

my dad is not a big fan of sepia, so here is one in color with grammy and one of the two. here you go, dad.
