so we are all adjusting to this new face that has appeared, rowe included. one thing for sure - he thinks his new face makes him look pretty stinkin' tough.

hair

so i've been reading an amazing book called 'shepharding the heart.' it has really been moving on my heart. it just reminds you to have your little one's heart as your focus, your priority. and the chapter i was reading last night is having that little heart on your heart while you are discipling. this summer i feel like that has not been the case. the majority of the time i am correcting behavior to better accomodate me. i have been reminded to focus on their little soul, not on how embarrassed i am in the walmart checkout line. anyway, it is an amazing book. totally recommend it. (thanks dave & sarah for recommending it to us:-)

so now to the pic. a tiny example that we attempting to implement what we are learning. was rowe's gorgeous long hair, which i LOVED, was it the best for our future home in florida, a place that has no winter? i think not, but goodness, how i miss it.

changes

so it started innocently enough. andy wanted to shave his head for florida & rowe offered his services.

and then, a blond headed someone followed suit.

and then it was done.

i'm still moderately traumatized, but rowe is loving his new look.

thomas

found these of poor thomas getting man-handled by chap. and then rowe took thomas's place.

offfical

so the season is officially over. we had the staff party last night & we all dressed up and had a great time. sweet eileen took some fam shots before the big shin-dig. the chaos of a family shot is pretty well documented i believe.

eileen and the babes

me & the hubs

me & eileen. andy got a little close on this one, but it is one of the only shots that we have together.

the stinkers being sweet, woody in tow.

and lastly, the open mouth smilers. andy thinks it is a 'stroud' thing. i'll blame that on my dad, no problem. love ya, dad.

grouse

so i guess there is a little bird called a sage grouse that is pretty much gone everywhere in the country except here. so andy and a guide from henry's fork anglers went hunting a couple of days ago and he said it just magnificent. you are only allowed to shoot 1 so the population is managed, but not threatened. anyway, andy said that it was so beautiful so he convinced eileen to go with him this time. she has been having quite the western experience lately . case in point: firearms. she had never held, let alone shot a gun, so some of the guys from the lodge the other day took her along and let her shoot some clays. you'll have to check out her new firearm friendly facebook profile pic. the gun looks bigger than she is:-) so here are the big hunters on their way out today.

playin'

let me just preface this post by explaining rowe's winter wear. we have found a new home for ALOT of our stuff lately. some things which might have been a bit preemptive. like rowe's winter jacket. i mean, do you really need a winter jacket in florida? surely not, but maybe i should have kept it a little big longer with all of this crazy idaho weather. no big deal though, thankfully chap had a second and rowe managed to squeeze it in, so on to the pics.

since the coldest it gets in chokolaskee in january is 78, we are all enjoying this little bit of winter while we have it:-)

trying to catch those snowflakes. too funny.
