rodeo

one of the great parts about living on a guest ranch is that your kids get to be with the kids on vacation each week. the kids' counselors put on a kid's rodeo every thursday and rowe loves it. when rowe fell off of coop earlier in the spring, we have a new 'have to wear your helmet around the horses' rule, which is why he has on his ski-helmet:-) for the 'rodeo,' they have a cherry race where you have to stick your face in whipped cream to find the cherry, the 'rough stock' event which is the fake bull being pulled by the old tractor, and all kinds of horse stuff - barrels, flags, poles, and even goat roping. it's pretty darn funny.

football

rowe forever wants to play "football game" as he calls it. i keep trying to get him to use his feet, but he's sticking with his hands. i'm not gonna give up easy:-) this is rowe and one of our summer staff playing "football game." the first shot is rowe insisting that tobe 'scoot back.'

lupine

our gorgeous lupine is blooming, finally mid-july :-)

paintin'

this summer i have been trying to take advantage of chap's morning nap by spending 1 on 1 time with rowe. finger painting is one of his favs so we have been having lots of fridge decor. fyi - i'm all about less laundry, so that is why he is painting in the buff:-)

cut

in other big news, we had a family outing to the hair saloon. rowe did a great job, i think mainly due to the fact that hilary had a zebra print gown, which was obviously a big hit. andy chopped his hair as well & i was super excited because i finally was able to do 'locks for love.' andy joked that maybe someone could now have a rattail (my hair is a bit fine:-) if that makes a little guy happy then even better!

4th

so i know i am way behind when i haven't even posted about the 4th of july - THE biggest day in creede. a town of 400 in the winter becomes a town of 10,000 on the 4th - big to-do. there is always a huge parade and this year rowe, chapin, and myself represented andy's black lab outfitter with a "float" of our own. rowe's main job was blowing his duck call, chap's main job was looking cute, and my job was to keep the dog's looking obedient:-) the most important job was taken on by the waitstaff - candy throwing. all in all, it was huge success. thanks, girls!

chair

we have a new tactic at the lee household. meet the 'fussy' chair, the 'share' chair, the 'no kicking your sister in the head' chair. he looks pretty remorseful, don't you think:-) don't be fooled.

10

better late than never. happy ten month birthday, little one. i believe this is known as "all hat & no cattle. "
